Waterloo Station

Jubilee Line Extension Project for London Transport
Architecture
January 1991 to June 1993

Summary

Worked as an architect on a project to design a new public transport interchange and Underground terminal for the Jubilee Line Extension Project at London’s Waterloo Station.

Details

The design includes conversion of the existing Edwardian bus station Colonnades on Waterloo Road into the Jubilee Line ticket hall, descending through station vaults to the platform level tunnels. The team developed a family of components including cladding panels, light fittings, advertising units, station signage and furniture to complement the line’s visual identity.

Technology

The public spaces are designed around detailed passenger flow analysis with plans produced using Unix-based CAD systems which generated project documentation, graphics and interactive computer models for use in exhibitions and public meetings.
